The owner of Downtown Bicycle Rentals demonstrates the proper way to mount and dismount bicycle using clip-on. Despite his instructions, I got pretty bruised up, because I kept forgetting to clip out when slowing down or coming to a stop. His prices are excellent, a third of what you will find in the interior near Denali. He even rents car racks, shoes, helmets, outfits, and gloves. |

We found the end of the bike route. Time to turn around. Shame we rented street bikes. There were several miles of mountain bike trails at this point. On the way back into town we almost ran into this moose, which was just 10 feet off the bike route. We discovered several days later that bike routes paralleled almost all of Alaska's highways. In Winter I think they double as snowmobile routes. Below is a view from the bike route looking back at the hotel where we were staying in downtown Anchorage. |

The next day we decided to take in some sites downtown like the Anchorage Museum, while we made plans for our adventure in the coming week on the Kenai peninsula. |
